Wednesday Seminar on Legal Theory

Wednesday Seminar on Legal Theory
The Wednesday Seminar on Legal Theory has a long tradition in Frankfurt, founded by Rudolf Wiethölter, which we intend to continue this summer. Throughout its history, the seminar has always been a place for theoretical experimentation, and this will remain the case in the future. For this reason, one of our central concerns is to confront current legal developments with a wide range of academic perspectives. In this way, we aim to promote internal legal debate and interdisciplinary exchange between law and other disciplines, such as philosophy and sociology, theology and history, or literary studies and cultural theory.
The seminar’s regular participants include students, doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and visiting scholars from various disciplines who are looking for a forum for challenging debates within the field of law.

In the summer semester of 2025, the seminar will be entitled
The Struggle for Law
In the seminar, we will read published and unpublished texts/manuscripts or discuss excerpts from books that are broadly related to the main topic. We also aim to engage in direct exchange with the authors. The seminar is held in German, with some exceptions.
The course will take place on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. in room RuW 3.102.
